Charity at Lodge Homewood
Due to its sound financial position Lodge Homewood is able to fund an effective annual charity programme. The main focus is on youth, the Karori community, and other Wellington charities.
We work closely with The Freemasons' Charity and the Wellington Masonic Youth Trust (WMYT) to implement projects that qualify for supporting funding from these organisations. This support is greatly appreciated as it enables the Lodge’s charity programme to be more effective. Youth who apply for assistance for individual projects must show strong commitment and have a significant cash contribution.
Lodge Homewood Master's Appeal
Every year our elected Worshipful Master chooses a charity to support. The Bethren are encouraged to contribute to this appeal over the year and the total contributions are then forwarded to the nominated charity. We usually invite a representative from the charity to speak at one of our meetings during the year.
In recent years the Master's Appeal has contributed to:
  • 2022-23 - Samaritans
  • 2021-22 - Little Shadow
  • 2020-21 - Heart Foundation
  • 2019-20 - Karori Sanctuary Trust
  • 2017-19 - Wellington Medical Research Foundation, Research for Life
  • 2016-17 - Stroke Central Region
  • 2015-16 - Breakfast in Schools
  • 2014-15 - Salvation Army
  • 2013-14 - Wellington City Mission and Big Buddy
